This is The front Cover of my music Magazine.

Out of all the pictures I took I decided to use this one for the fornt cover as I felt it was best suited to the purpose of my magazine, However I did find it difficult to tyr cut round the image so I therefore lightened it and then altered it by going on to filter and found a tool named 'Threshold' this gave my picture a surreal effect.

For the rest of my front cover I used font from www.Urbanfont.com and I also used Arial black.

double page spread

For my double page spread I felt I wanted to add a little gig news in, to link with this I thought previous images I had taken whilst being on holiday and in london would go.

I used these 3 Pictures.

The first pictures In New York, the second In london and the third In dubai.

I took the Picture of the 'Burj Al Arab' one of Dubai's famous hotels from the sky as I went on a sea plane, The picture of New York is in times square of a night time, even though It had my mums friends in the picture after editing it I still feel it worked well and lastly I took the picture of the Brixton o2 Academy when I went to see the enemy.

Once putting these pictures into photo shop I cropped them, Edited them and even photoshopped some aspects out for example In the London picture I edited out 'The Enemy' sign.

In more detail to how I edited them I went into enhance and colour variations I then Lightened midtones, Saturated the images more etc.

To develop more on my magazine I felt I needed to use someone as an idol to my magazine, I therefore asked my friend to do the honours. I dressed her up and put her in various places and the outcomes where the images Below, I am going to look through them and select the ones I feel are most approproate for my magazine cover; contets ad middle page spread.

Photos For Music magazine.

I attended a festival in the summer and I believe my images could link with the whole indie rock theme.

These are photos I took on my mobile ad the last one is a picture of me and a friend, I included the image in this blog as proof of my presence at the festival.

My ideas on these pictures at the moment are that I may use the first two on the cover and the last picture of the crowd in the contents.

Mock Up Of Music Mag.

For my music magazine I have decided upon a indie/rock magazine.

These are my mock ups of what I want my magazine cover, contents and double page spread to look like.

The first one is my cover, the second my contents and for the double page spread I made two mock ups as I want to try both and then decide upon which one I wish to use.

My mock ups don't have that much colour on however throughout the whole thing I want the colour scheme to be dark blue, red, white and black.

We've been focusing on music magazines during lessons to give us idea' s of what makes an effective magazine and what doesn't, It also gives us insight to all the genres of music. This will help us when we come to doing our cover, contents and middle page spread.

gratifications

In todays lesson I established a Gratification is the:
-Escapism
-Personal Identity
-Identity
-Surveillance
Within a magazine.

In futher detail whats meant by each of these are The way someone can get a break from reality by engaging in a magazine. It helps to give you a sense of personal identity and makes you ask the question to yourself 'Who am i?' from this people get ideas on fashion, idols etc. It also provides information on the world around us. Another thing it provides is a way of social 'Identity' allowing the readership to communicate with others who have similar intrests, it makes a statement about who you are, however there are some problems and downfalls in this for example, people avoid dealing with their own problems by seeking comfort in others. People can become obsessive over various things such as celebs; being fashionable or even eating disorders.

Overall the gratifications within magazines sum up the positives and negatives within a magazine.
